Yellowpages Reverse Lookup
yellowpages
Alright. This website just scares me! The YellowPages.com site has a section called “Reverse Lookup”. It is intended for people to be able to look up information on a phone number that they do not know whom it belongs to. If you enter the number and the area code on this site, they will return the main contact of that number with address information. If this isn’t bad enough, you can continue looking for information on the person found. I tried this with my house number and was able to retrieve information that has no business (in my eyes) on the site. All I can think of is some criminal going through local numbers looking for an easy target (young female living on a nice street). I feel that the information that can be gathered on the site might be enough to get a half ways decent profile. This can be used by a criminal to call and harass you, or even enough for a salesperson to call and use your information to persuade you a little better than normal. Even though this has its positive uses, I hate the idea that products like this are out on the web. Am I just being paranoid, or do you all agree with me?
