Boy Kill Boy - Suzie
When I woke up yesterday and saw that there was not a new free single of the week, i almost panicked! Like I said before, the anticipation of hearing the new free song from Apple iTunes is usually unbearable, and yesterday was a killer! I think Apple made up for their 1-day delay with a single from Boy Kill Boy called "Suzie". The style of the song was a mix between early 90s and today's alternative. The song was highly upbeat, and was very fun to listen to. iTunes mentioned in their blurb that this song "is probably your new favorite song". With how addicting the song is, simplicity of the lyrics (to make it very easy to sing along), and just how great everything sounds, I can see why iTunes would say that! Make sure to download this week's free single from Apple iTunes before the week is up.

Kenny Chesney - Summertime
I missed the excitement of writing about something specific about the summer starting! Even though the first day of summer has come and gone, I am going to write about something summer related for today's post. Kenny Chesney has come out with a new hit called "Summertime" that has become very popular among country listeners everywhere. The style of the song is very popular to his other more recent music with a relaxed feel, and the lyrics showing the idea of being in the perfect spot. Usually Kenny writes about being at a beach somewhere and relaxing, but this time the song is about being on the summer starting and everything that is great about the summer....ballparks, summer drives, the pond everyone goes swimming in, etc. It is hard to talk about the vocals and the instrumentals of the group. You expect them to be perfect, and they always are! Even if you are not into country, give the song a chance and take a listen. The song is not as
country as most people think. Who knows -- you might like it! Have a great weekend, and I hope the summer weather is treating you well!

Landon Pigg - Sailed On
When I woke up this morning, the first thing that I wanted to do was open up iTunes and see what the free single of the week was. I have never heard of the artist (Landon Pigg), but after downloading and listening to his single, I have a feeling we will be hearing a lot of him in the near future. The free single is titled "Sailed On". It is a ballad that reminded me a lot of Coldplay's style. The song is very delicate, and has a great mixture/balance between the instrumentals and the vocals. The rhythm of the song is a basic rock beat and is accompanied by guitar and piano. The pitch of the vocals is very broad in the song. Most of the song, the Landon is at a normal range, but parts of the song jumps up to a higher pitch. One thing that I think helped out in this song was the accompaniment of a backup singer. I really think that the two vocalists together sound great! I am very impressed with this song, and I am excited to hear more from the singer/songwriter, Landon Pigg.

Under the Influence of Giants - Mama’s Room

Well, another week has passed! I really have been looking forward to every Tuesday lately just to see what Apple is going to give us for the iTunes Free Single of the Week. This week, they went with an alternative band called Under the Influence of Giants. The song they are giving away this week is called "Mama's Room". The song is pretty interesting to listen to. The instrumentals start off pretty basic, but then jump into a lot of different styles (like a basic rock, electric, etc). The vocals do something very similar to what the instrumentals did. The vocalist's pitch jumps all over the place during the song. At one point of the song, I thought I was listening to The Darkness because the vocals were at such a high pitch. Usually, I would say that this would not be something I would be interested in hearing, but today's group really pulled it off nicely. Unfortunately, I don't think that today's song has a lot of promise for making it to a lot of major radio stations. I feel this way because it really would not fit any of the musical categories you find on today's major radio stations. Under the Influence of Giants has caught my attention with this week's Free Single of the Week, and I will be looking for more songs by them in the near future!

Office - Wound Up

This weeks free single from Apple iTunes really gave me a problem to find some background information about the group. The group's name is "Office"...good luck googling that! Even worse, the CD name that the single came off of is "Q&A", another very generic term to search by. I was not able to find any information about the group, the CD, or the lyrics of this week's single (other than what was given in Apple's blurb about the song). The song is called "Wound Up", and was very pleasing to listen to. The instrumentals are very catchy, and you will find them getting stuck in your head for a little while after the song has ended. The vocals had a great sound to them, but I struggled to understand what they were singing. It was disappointing that only a handful of the lyrics were understandable. A review for the CD on iTunes said that the songs written by the group were amazing. I would totally agree with that statement on the instrumentals, but i cannot agree with it on the writing of the lyrics until I fully read/hear them. I would love to read up about this group a little more, so If anyone knows the group's website, please leave a link to it in the comments below!
