Online by Brad Paisley
brad paisley
I found a perfect song to write about! I just purchased Brad Paisley's newest CD (yea, I know you do not like country music...read this anyways), and the third track caught me by surprise. The song starts off by explaining that he is a short overweight geek that works at a pizzeria and lives with his parents still. All of a sudden he says the line "Go check out MySpace". What? A country song about the Internet? You bet! The entire song goes on talking about how this guy can be anything he wants to be online, and it is acceptable. The lyrics are really funny to listen to and the beat of the song is great too.

My favorite part of the song has to be when he says "And fire up the mac". Right after that line, the keyboardist hits a note that sounds exactly like a mac when it is booted up. The rest of the song is up-beat with a nice quick tempo. All around, I think this song is great, and I really wish this would become a single heard on the radio. It is a song that people that listen to all different musical genres would get a kick out of.

Kenny Chesney - Summertime
kenny chesney
I missed the excitement of writing about something specific about the summer starting! Even though the first day of summer has come and gone, I am going to write about something summer related for today's post. Kenny Chesney has come out with a new hit called "Summertime" that has become very popular among country listeners everywhere. The style of the song is very popular to his other more recent music with a relaxed feel, and the lyrics showing the idea of being in the perfect spot. Usually Kenny writes about being at a beach somewhere and relaxing, but this time the song is about being on the summer starting and everything that is great about the summer....ballparks, summer drives, the pond everyone goes swimming in, etc. It is hard to talk about the vocals and the instrumentals of the group. You expect them to be perfect, and they always are! Even if you are not into country, give the song a chance and take a listen. The song is not as country as most people think. Who knows -- you might like it! Have a great weekend, and I hope the summer weather is treating you well!

Jake Owen - Yee Haw!
yee haw
The other day, I heard a country song called "Yee Haw" by Jake Owen on the local radio station. I immediately didn't like it because it reminded me of the newest single by Toby Keith, "Get Drunk and Be Somebody". The lyrics seemed to have a very similar message in both songs. After listening to the whole thing, I couldn't help but start to enjoy the song. The main story of the song is that after a hard week at work, it is time to have some fun for the weekend! Jake goes through his fun night at the "place down the road", and explains all the great things going on there. The song has a laid-back feel to it. The vocals, instrumentals, and lyrics all mixed together sounds really great! Currently, Owen only has this single released, but his CD should be released soon. I have a feeling this is going to be a really good CD to add to your collection!

Dierks Bentley - Settle for a Slowdown
dierks bentley
There are a bunch of artists that I really enjoy listening to in the Country Genre. One of these artists is Dierks Bentley. I have been listening to Dierks since 2003 when he released "What was I Thinking". It was a great song for me to hear from the young artist, and got me very interested in his other songs. His newest release is "Settle for a Slowdown". The song is a slower ballad that was really well written. The song is about his girlfriend driving off from their relationship as he keeps watching her hoping to see her slow down or stop and come back. The song is very emotional, and a picture of what is occurring in the song will be easily painted in your head from the great lyrics and the soft instrumentals.

Toby Keith - Get Drunk and Be Somebody
toby keith
I was looking in the Country category yesterday and noticed that I have barely written about Toby Keith! Being a big fan of his work, I am shocked. It seems that every new single he releases for the radio turns into my next favorite song. His newest is "Get Drunk and Be Somebody". The instrumentals has a nice mix with a bunch of extra instruments (like trumpet) that you do not usually hear in a country song. The beat is fun and has a great rhythm for the song. Like most of Toby's songs, you can really relate to the lyrics! This song is mainly about being nothing but an employee during the week...but when the weekend comes, it is your time! Toby also has a voice that is unforgettable. "Get Drunk and Be Somebody" is the first release on his newest CD, "White Trash With Money", that will be released on April 11. I am sure this will be a great CD!
